What is IEC?

Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit number issued by DGFT, Ministry of Commerce. Mandatory for any business importing or exporting goods and services from India. Without IEC, customs clearance is not possible.

Documents Required

  1. PAN Card of the business
  2. Aadhaar Card of the proprietor/director
  3. Bank certificate or cancelled cheque
  4. Proof of business address
  5. Passport-size photograph
  6. Class 3 DSC (for companies/LLPs)

IEC Application Process

  1. Create account on dgft.gov.in
  2. Fill ANF 2A form with business and bank details
  3. Pay government fee of ₹500 online
  4. Submit — IEC issued immediately in most cases

Important: IEC has lifetime validity. No periodic renewal needed. But must update on DGFT portal annually.
